Getting to Akumal

After picking up your rental car, getting to Akumal and finding Playa Blanca is an easy task.

When you leave Cancun, look for and follow the signs to "Tulum" and/or "Playa Del Carmen". From the airport, keep to the right on the airport exit road and take the first exit to the right (Approximately ¾ mi). That will put you on Highway #307, which is the main highway south, thus it is hard to miss.

Continue on highway #307 for approximately 70 km or (60 mi)(About an hour). It is an excellent 4 lane highway all the way to Playa Del Carmen, which is about 2/3rd of the way. After passing thru Playa Del Carmen, the road narrows to a two lane highway (Still excellent highway) with wide drivable shoulders.

Continue on for approximately another 30 km (20 miles) and you will see an exit (round-a-bout type) for "North Akumal". All of the condos at Akumal are across the highway on your left; however you must exit to the right onto, and around the round-a-bout (Traffic Circle). Watch for traffic from both directions before crossing the highway.

The entrance is approximately 1/4 of a mile long, after which you will pass under an arch. At the arch, it appears as though you might have to stop or check-in, but you don't need to stop. Continue on under the arch. I'm not real sure of the distance, but it may be about 1km and you will see a little restaurant/bar on the right called "La Buena Vida" (Means 'The Good Life')(Interesting/Fun place for drinks and/or dinner). When you get to La Buena Vida, you're getting close. Continue on a bit further (Maybe 1/4 mi) and you should see the sign for Playa Blanca. It will be on your right, with a little 'Internet shop & Mini Mart' across the street.
